List of AoE spells that break aggro.
I was wondering if someone could give me a list of all the area of effect skills that break aggro. I know that firestorm and chaos storm scatter the enemies and as far as i know meteor shower does not.

All AoE-DoT spells do. And actually, Meteor Shower does too - watch closely and you'll see them try, the KD just prevents them from getting very far.

As of late even "indirect AoE damage" spells like Spiteful Spirit and Visage/Famine break aggro. Much slower than "direct AoE damage" though.

No, not really. Solo farming bores the crap out of me, and I'm frugal, so don't need much money.

eh.. here's a quick list
Ele: Firestorm Searing Heat Bed of Coals Breathe of Fire ... there's more but it's a quick run down pretty much anything that does damage to multiple enemies and reoccurs direct damage every so often. Monk: Balthazars Arua Zealots Fire Shield of Judgement i believe that's more along the lines of what he's looking for, granted there are many more spells that are classified as AoE i know Spiteful Spirit was mentioned it does the same thing, where mobs break up and run away some what. but anyhoo there's a quick list i jotted down for you off the top of my head, anyone else please add too, edit my list as you see fits. |

From my experience, anything that damages more than ~3 enemies at a time is subject to make them run under the right circumstances.

The current Ai reacts to pretty much ANY duration damage skills.
To be clear, this would refer to ANY and ALL skills that specifically say they last X amount of seconds or 1....to....X amount of seconds. When i say skills, this includes spells, hexes, skills. I am not positive on some skills and stances like Gladiator's Defense... As some have already mentioned, that is the general idea. So if it is a duration damage on a multiple targets/area, that will trigger Ai retreat reaction. Other things trigger this effect like if multiple foes are attacking you while you have Shield of Judgement on, or Vengeful Was Khanhei, after a few seconds all but 3 foes will break away. From that point on, only 3 foes at a time will attack you, while the others sit back, often cycling out eachother. Hope that helps a bit more.. cheers. |

Gladiator's Defense scatters in the same fashion as VwK and SoJ, after they all hit you, all but three wander off, so only 3 enemies at a time ever are attacking.
Some single use AoE skills also scatter, Cyclone Axe and Triple Chop will break aggro if more than 3 targets are hit, Ignite Arrows will scatter on every hit. AoE scatter will be removed from normal play with the Hard mode update in less than a month, so any list made now will only be applicable for Hard mode. |
